"I am asked by the occasional journalist who wishes to interview me why I stopped writing poetry. Either I say that the poetry I wrote wasn’t any good, perhaps it was even terrible, or I say that a poem has the potential for perfection and this possibility finally silenced me, or sometimes I say that I felt trapped in the poems I tried to write, which is like saying one feels trapped in the universe, or trapped by the inevitability of death, but the truth of why I stopped writing poetry is not any of these, not nearly, not exactly, the truth is that if I could explain why I stopped writing poetry then I might write it again."

"She wished she could grab the happiness and mash it into a ball and hoard it and gloat over it, but she couldn’t. It just ran all over the place, disrupting everything."

Is bundling ebooks with print books a good idea?

openbookstore:

Dennis Johnson explores the question of print w/digital instead of the old print vs. digital.

I buy records all the time and the first thing I look for when purchasing a new record is whether or not it comes with a free digital download. I think this is a great idea. Something tells me that Kindle, Nook, Kobo, etc…. etc… might not. (especially the first two). What kind of digital copy would you receive? What kind of reader do you need to have?

In the words of my favorite bear, Oh, bother! Just give me my print books. ^KE

"When I meet them outside the theater and we all shake hands, I’m thinking that I probably really am an alcoholic because one of the questions they ask you is, “When you’re in social situations where alcohol is not present, do you feel uncomfortable?” Answer: Yes, absolutely. Let’s face it, the only thing I like to do is sit around a bar and drink alcoholic beverages."

"In the land of underwater birds, everything is reverse. For example: Fish fly through the sky and make their homes in trees. Skunks smell like flowers. When they’re getting married, people say I hate you…Girls go to the bathroom standing up. Also, in the land of underwater birds, you win the Olympics by running slowest. Childhood is the worst time; you get happy when you’re older. Also, people go to heaven before they’re born. They hand out cigars when someone dies. In the land of underwater birds, they say There are a million places like home."
